Women Aware’s Legal Advocacy Program helps domestic violence survivors receive justice by increasing their understanding of, and access to, the protections afforded to them by the law. Women Aware’s Legal Advocates stabilize lives providing a variety of essential services, including: helping clients complete applications for restraining orders; assisting in the creation of individual safety plans; supporting clients as they file motions for child support, custody, and/or visitation; providing referrals to immigration assistance programs; referring clients to a cadre of pro-bono attorneys; translating court or legal documents; and coordinating monthly legal clinics where clients receive a free 45-minute session with a family law attorney.
The Legal Advocacy Program is an essential component of the comprehensive domestic violence services offered by Women Aware as it supports our mission of providing programs and services that promote lives free of violence. Annually, the Legal Advocacy Program provides services to over 1,000 women in Middlesex County.
Women Aware is proud to announce the Verizon Foundation as a corporate sponsor of this vital program.
