An Old Bridge homicide has shaken our community. On Wednesday, Barbara Pabian, 53, was found dead in her home shortly before 12:34 a.m., according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce K. Kaplan. Ms. Pabian’s husband remains in custody as the primary suspect in this case.
“Between 2011 and 2012, we have provided a 25-percent increase in the provision of domestic violence services,” said Phyllis Adams, Women Aware’s Executive Director, adding that in 2012, the organization provided emergency shelter to a record 248 women and children fleeing highly dangerous situations, and answered over 6,000 hotline calls.
“The reality is that domestic violence can be very lethal,” she said. “The reason why we have an emergency shelter is that we need to hide victims and their children – sometimes to protect them from homicides.”
“Women Aware extends our condolences to the families and friends effected by this tragedy,” offers Ms. Adams.
